Your
new cover comes with a protective liner; do not remove liner until
prompted by instructions.
The
new Camaro radiator support cover has been designed to attach to the
top of the factory bolts. This is a unique system not seen before
that will enable you to attach the cover without drilling any holes
in your new car. Although you do have to drill a pilot hole they are
strategically placed directly into the top of the 100% replaceable
factory bolt head.
-
Although your new
cover comes to you pre shaped it WILL be necessary to set the
unit in place and further shape the panel by hand in order to
achieve a nice contour to the cars radiator support rail.
-
Once you have
achieved a nice contour, line up the holes in the panel to the
top of the factory bolts. Hold the panel firmly in place and
drill into the factory bolt head with the 9/64 drill bit
provided. The factory bolt is mild steel and will be able to be
piloted with no problem. Pilot the first hole about 3/8” down
into the head and blow off all shavings. Set the first screw
into one of the white nylon screw cover sockets and attach this
first screw. Then pilot the second screw location and set it as
well. The reason for piloting these two attachment screws
individually is to allow you to attach the panel accurately to
the vehicle. This one screw then the next screw will yield the
best results.
-
You will notice two
holes in the chrome molding that runs along the front edge of
the new cover. Pilot these two holes into the bolt heads in the
same way as the first two screw locations and blow away any
shavings. You have been provided with two 3/8 chrome oval head
screws to be used at these two locations. These two screws
should counter sink themselves nicely into the chrome molding.
Peel back a portion of the protective liner of the first two
screws and install the two chrome screw covers provided.
-
Thoroughly clean the
two cap locations with alcohol to remove any and all road grime
and dirt. Then swipe the factory cap tops with the adhesive
promoter provided. You have been provided with two chrome
decorative caps. One of these caps will have an angled flat
bottom. This particular cap has been designed to compensate for
the low lying radiator pressure cap. Peel the attachment cookie
from the bottom of this cap and attach it to the top of the
factory cap and then simply set the decorative cap to the Velcro
rotating the caps angled bottom so that the cap matches the main
cover nicely. The remaining washer fluid cap will require you to
trim the attached strap so that the cover can be completely
removed. Remove the strap completely from the washer fluid fill
tube neck and snap the factory cap back in place. Attach the
Velcro cookie to the factory cap and then attach the chrome
decorative cap by sliding it underneath the main cover and over
the cap. This underneath installation of the decorative cap is
the easiest way to access the windshield washer fluid cap.
Remove the protective liner.
